New Globonder - Angela Montgomery
Globonder
Angela Montgomery has built an extraordinary
multi-phased career of theater, education and training,
writing and translation. Along the way, her content
focus has shifted from the arts to transformational
management.
Angela writes, edits and researches for the Sechel
Intelligent Management project created by her husband
Dr. Domenico Lepore, with whom she set up a management
consultancy firm in Italy in 1996. The Sechel project
promotes a science-based paradigm of thinking and action
for organizations and their leaders. It is a further
development of The Decalogue™
methodology.
Besides her B.A. (Hons.) in English (First Class) and
M.A. in English (with distinction), both from Queen Mary
College, London University, Angela earned a Ph.D. in
English from Birkbeck College, London University. Her
doctorate examined relations between modern physics and
the literature of Samuel Beckett, backed up by hitherto
unpublished manuscript material from the Beckett
archives. During the Samuel Beckett Centenary Year
(2006) she was the Curator of The Beckett Project,
screenings and talks, sponsored by the Fondazione
Cineteca Italiana in Milan.
Angela started her career by training and working in
professional theater. She earned a Postgraduate Diploma
in Professional Acting from the Webber-Douglas Academy
of Dramatic Art. Her acting engagements ranged from the
Fringe to the London West End, and she directed several
plays by Samuel Beckett. Working in theater was a
formative experience in living a life outside
conventional boundaries. Meeting her husband, Domenico,
was the beginning of a life above and beyond anything
she had ever imagined.
In 1989 she moved to Italy to join Domenico, where she
taught for the University of Salerno, Open University,
European Business School, and British Council. She
delivered many in-company English courses and services
for managers in commercial companies in Milan.
In 1996, Angela co-founded, with Dr. Lepore, and managed
Methods for Systems Thinking (MST), a management
consultancy in quality and systems thinking. Dealing
with the day to day of owning a business proved to be
liberating and inspiring. Over the next few years, she
translated from Italian all the training material and
produced and edited MST’s English language material.
Angela has lived on London, Salerno, New York where her
husband co-founded Symmetry Holdings Inc. and Toronto.
She is currently developing the content of a new
website,
www.intelligentmanagement.ws, and editing the second
book on The Decalogue methodology. The first Decalogue
book published in 1999 has been translated into several
languages and is recommended reading for many
universities.
Angela’s first novel about love and corruption in
Italy, will be published in early 2010 thanks to
an initiative for new writers through
www.youwriteon.com funded by the Arts Council of
England. Set in the scandal-ridden Milan of the early
1990s, it is a story about life choices and falling in
love. She wrote it to speak out about the insidious
daily compromises that society, in particular,
contemporary Italy, can create, and to celebrate our
constant ability to choose a better way. She hopes
readers will find the book entertaining, moving and
inspiring.
